5 Easy Ways to Show Kindness on World Kindness Day (November 13th)

October 26, 2018 | By Mason Roberts

World Kindness Day, celebrated on November 13th, is a holiday that many of us have never heard of. It is an international holiday that dates back to 1998. It was started by the World Kindness Movement, and has been around and celebrated ever since. So, how do we celebrate this holiday anyway? It’s pretty simple, actually. Here are some cheap and free ways of spreading kindness this November 13th.

Give a Little Compliment

If you want to participate in World Kindness Day, but do not have the money or time to do so, don’t worry. You won’t need it for this one; compliments are free. You can choose to give a compliment in many different ways. Compliment someone on an article of clothing, a new hair-do, or even on a skill that they possess. This can be done in person, or even on the internet if you are home. Go onto social media and post some nice things on a person’s page. You can comment on a photo of someone’s children, congratulate them for a new job they received, etc. These small acts of kindness can really make someone’s day more special. A little can go a long way with a compliment.

Flash a Smile

This is one of the simplest things to do. Simply smile at people that are walking or driving by you. Although this may seem small, you do not know the type of day that this person is having. Someone may have just received bad news and needed that small act of kindness to make an impact on their day. There are many times that we are having a horrible day, and someone’s smile can really turn our day positive. In turn, this will make you feel good as well. It's a positive for all involved.

Donate Your Old Things

We all have items in our everyday life that we refuse to get rid of but don't use. This can be anything from clothing to toiletries. If you know that someone somewhere can use it more than you, donate it. There are many options when it comes to donation. You can choose to give items to someone that you know in need, or drop it off at your local donation center. Most areas even have clothing donation boxes scattered throughout the area. Once again, this won’t cost you a dime, but will make you feel good and help people stay clothed, warm, and clean.

Inform the Boss

If you happen to have a waitress that makes your dining experience extra special, let their boss know. Ask to speak with the manager, and tell them how well that waitress has done their job. It may be the little push a manager needed to give that person a raise or promotion. You can also do this with any excellent service you receive. Give someone recognition for a job well done. If you happen to be out and about on World Kindness Day, this is a great idea for you.

Pay It Forward

If you have ever walked up to a cashier and realized your coffee or food has already been paid for, you probably experienced “Pay It Forward”. By paying a few extra dollars when you purchase your coffee, you can pay for the person behind you, before they even order. This will make their coffee free, or seriously discount their order. This is all thanks to your kindness. This is the perfect way to make a person’s day a little bit better, and put a smile on their face. They might even decide to do it for the person behind them. Kindness can be contagious.

These are just a few ways to celebrate World Kindness Day. There are so many different things to do to make someone feel special and show them an act of kindness. If you decide you would like to do a grand gesture for someone on World Kindness Day, but do not have the funds, you can always take out a small payday loan.
